Everyone Get Open.

Back in the day, when we used to play football in my Grandma’s field, we had a standard play. We would all rush to the huddle eager to hear what our route pattern would be. You know these huddles, I’m sure. They’re where your uncle is drawing the play up on his palm. The other team is busy cheating…sneaking the ball back a few inches…hoping you don’t notice. The defense has already decided that they’re playing “man coverage”, well, because there’s only one person fast enough to keep up with our fastest player.
Then, my favorite of plays is called. “Everyone get open…”. Oh. Ok. “I’ll just run around over near the bush.” “I’ll do a five yard hook.” “I’ll do a slant across the middle” “I’ll go long…” (someone always has to go long)
Organized chaos right?
So, if I can stretch this already weak analogy a little further…(and I will)…Does this sound like your music leading/playing in a band approach?
I’d love to hear what you think are some strengths/weaknesses of this approach to playing music…

Yep, just get open; I’ll try and whip it to ya! And the air was cold, the field was wet! Sometimes, you just have to wing it. But when people and their schedules are involved, as in a music ministry, it’s not the best idea.
