A lot has been happening recently! I feel that my energy has been zapped. So, to copy my good friend Daniel Renstrom, I’ll give you the recent highlights in bullet point fashion:
- I just ran my first ever “official” 10k in Charlotte. Many of you (assuming that many of you read this blog) know that I ran a 1/2 marathon (which was also my first ever road race) back in November of 2008, so you may think that running a 10k is a step backwards. You might be right. Roughly 3.5 miles (6.2 total) were uphill. I was not ready for this. My time wasn’t the best, but also not the worst. I enjoyed the length of the 10k. Fun Run. I have a goal to do another 1/2 this year, as well as a destination full marathon. Who wants to run with me? Any ideas on where to run?
- I started tracking sessions with @JessLyndonRayNeedstoGetTwitter and I’m really excited about finishing the project. We’re working on electric guitars/keys and will send her back out to Dallas to track vocals soon. Her project is going to be amazing.
- I just helped serve at the Convoy of Hope which took place in the heart of downtown Raleigh. I’ve been places with abject poverty before, but never really expected to find it in my city. Serving in downtown Raleigh really helped me take ownership of my city. It helped broaden my idea of what “having an impact in my hometown” could look like.
- I’ve spent 10 billion hours planning FusionConference09. The conference is being hosted by Providence Baptist Church, and I’m looking forward to what God will do in the next few weeks.
- I’ve had a recent season of not listening to much music. I’ve been driving in silence. Not turning on music while at my computer. It’s been pretty refreshing. I think it’s actually sharpened me musically because my ear is a little fresh. We’ll see if that translates into better writing!
