milestones (continued)

photo.jpg

This past week has been a week of milestones of me.  You must understand that I mean milestones in the “mostly unimportant” sort of way. You know…milestones.  Milestones like we used to play in Jazz Band back in the day.  I think the tempo marking for that song was “give it up kid, you can’t play this fast”.

The week started off with an omen. Like in the “Sandlot” when Benny “the Jet” Rodriguez busted the guts out of the baseball (which lead to the biggest pickle that Smalls had ever been involved in…you know the rest of that story).

On Sunday night, while playing with Daniel, I busted the guts out of a shure Beta52 kick drum mic. First time ever.  I’ll be mounting it on my wall soon.  I knew that more would be to come.

Over the next few days, I found out that registrations for our worship conference, Fusion, had more than doubled.  Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Then WBFJ 89.3, a radio station in Winston Salem, called for an interview with SMB. The DJ wanted to bring us in to talk about our hymn project and any news since the last interview with Shelly.  This was my first radio interview. (milestone)

On the way to the interview, my Jeep crossed the 200k mile marker.  (My brother says, “you’re halfway there”…my dad says “the minimum”) Don’t ask about taking the picture of the odometer at 60 miles per hour in rush hour traffic.  Just relax.

Translation: three milestones in one week.  What are your milestones?

Milestones are whatever you want them to be. After 31 years of marriage and five kids, I wonder what achievement means.
I guess if I were a surgeon I would have a different perspective.
