monday

My Monday update, in bullet point fashion:

I’ve spent 5 of the last 6 days movning.  First was moving Shelly out of her place.  Next, I moved myself into a new apartment.  Good thing I picked the hottest week of the year to move.  On a side note, I’ve traveled a lot for ministry and music and it’s always interesting waking up in some strange hotel in a strange city.  It’s even more strange to wake up in your own place when nothing is familiar!  It almost feels a bit like vertigo. Only sideways…

A very nice Providence co-worker just brought me a huge bag of Skittles.  Only one problem…I’ve found that I like to “taste the rainbow” all at one time. Whole bag // in mouth // chew // fight off headache from sugar rush.

I had a great time playing at Providence last night with SMB.  We played with good friends James Childs, Will Hughes, and Tom Innes.  It’s been a little while since we played a full band show, so last night was a good change of pace. We’ll be heading to Sparta, NC this coming weekend to lead worship at a church there, then I’ll head off to Wilmington to play with Chad Lister.  Good times are coming.

Providence hosted Jason Gray this past weekend. He lead worship in the morning and played a concert last night.  I loved his sincerity and candidness about life, the church, relationships, etc.  You should check out his music.

I’m looking for a good book to read.  Any ideas? (I may look into East of Eden by Steinbeck. The last book I read by him made me laugh out loud…in the airport…at 4 am)

i just started edgar lee masters’ “spoon river anthology” and f. scott fitzgerald’s “this side of paradise”. both are pretty good so far. Cervantes’ “don quixote” is also a great read…very funny…but it’s long as dirt. oh, and gaston leroux’s “phantom of the opera” is addictive. …and j.m. barrie’s “peter pan” will give you a gentle, child-like way of seeing life.
